SFMNP
Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program is a non-profit food assistance program that aims to assist lower income members of the senior citizen population of Oklahoma.
The Problem
Outdated processes were causing seniors to be left out from vital food assistance.
The Opportunity
They were slowed down by a limited paper application and snail-mail process. Limiting validation to only if a physical application was mailed back—it was problematic.

What I did
Clarified the Problem
Applications were printed and mailed out to qualified seniors. An application was considered ‘pending’ until its return. If the recipient of an application had relocated or passed, that spot would go to waste.
Measure Twice, Design Once
Moving from a longstanding process can cause apprehension. Wireframing and Prototyping helped ease that—and turned anxiety into excitement.
Embraced Challenges
Being a non-profit means needing the most impact per dollar. It was an opportunity to flex my planning skills and see the benefits a strategic approach can have on a reduced budget.

What I Learned
A project can’t have everything—and that’s ok because it doesn’t need to have everything. Hitting business objectives with multiple constraints is rewarding—especially when you see the positive impact and change that it has on other people's lives.
